Our kennel's average on Hips is a total of 11.6 which is well below the breed average.
Our main aim will always be to ensure all our puppies will be fit for life and the purpose they were bought for by using low scored parents who also excell in temperament and correct type.

'A' STAMP GRADING SYSTEM.THIS ALSO APPLIES TO ANY STUD DOG THAT WE MAY USE IN OUR BREEDING PROGRAM (HE MUST HAVE PASSED ALL HEALTH TESTS)....

A hip score is a measure of any evidence of hip dysplasia (abnormal development). Scores range from 0 to 106. The recommended scores for breeding from are total 20 with no more than 12 on one hip. The lower the score the better The Breed average is 20. We work on a score of 30 or less for bitches much lower from dogs. An elbow grade is a measure of any evidence of elbow dysplasia (abnormal development). Both elbows are graded between 0-3. The lower grade the better.
- Hip Scoring/Elbow Scoring many breeds of dog can be vulnerable to a condition called hip dysplasia This is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that is both physically debilitating and very painful. Before being allowed to breed, all dogs should go through the hip and elbow scoring procedure, which involves a physical examination of their hip and elbows taken by radiograph. Each dog so tested is then given a score based on the formation of their hip sockets, with a lower score being the best. Only those dogs that score within the breed average(20 in total with not more than 12 on one hip or a maximum of 1 for elbows (this is for a breed survey pass) most breeders will have there own cut of score ours is 30 max for females and under 12 for males, the best score being 0 and the worst score being 106. If male then they should also be tested clear of Haemophilia.
It needs to be emphasized again all of this procedure, testing and certification is not for the benefit of breeders, dog owners, show enthusiasts or dog fanciers of any type These considerations are important because they help to guarantee the good health and continued genetic integrity of dog breeds as a whole, as well as individual dogs that are going to be brought into the world in the future as a part of the breeding process. Even if you are not a breeder but only someone who wants to find a nice dog as a pet, the work being done by breeders to preserve the strength and good health of specific breeds will increase your chances of finding a dog that is healthy and possesses good personality and temperament.
